Aikido is about much more than self-defense. It's about confidence, awareness, resilience, and learning to respond to conflict without losing yourself. Many LGBTQ+ people have experienced bullying, harassment, discrimination, or the feeling of not quite fitting in. Training in Aikido can help develop confidence, healthy boundaries, calm under pressure, and a supportive community that encourages personal growth. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to feel stronger, safer, and more confident—both on and off the mat.

We believe respect is something that should be practiced every day. Aikido New London County is committed to being a welcoming place all year long, where people are judged by their character, support one another, and train together as equals.
